Every believer has at least one testimony: the story of his or her salvation from sin and reconciliation to God. But God doesn’t stop with one story. He’s transforming us, day by day, into the likeness of his son, Jesus. Along the way, He’s working in our lives and giving us incredible stories of his faithfulness. Here are the main themes for Christian testimonies:
#1: Salvation
This is the typical salvation story. It’s how Jesus found you and saved you from your sins. Some stories are dramatic, others are pretty simple. Either way, Christ is glorified when we honor his role in our changed lives.
#2 The Prodigal Child
Sometimes believers will accept Christ at a young age and turn away, only to come back to their savior later in life. This story echoes Jesus parable of the Prodigal Son, who returned back to his loving and accepting father after he ran away.
#3 God’s Miraculous Power
Has God preformed a miracle in your life? God works great miracles in people’s lives today, and people love to praise God for the work that he’s done in healing you from illness or some other miraculous intervention in your life.
#4 God’s Faithfulness
The people who have lived long lives and have walked closely with the Lord seldom stand on a stage and deliver their powerful testimony stories because they don’t think they are as exciting as those given by people with dramatic salvation stories. However, people who have served Christ and have experienced blessed marriages can testify to God’s longstanding faithfulness through the years. Those who have lived a life devoted to Jesus, even from infancy, know the wonderful blessings that can come from that relationship. It’s time for people to share stories of Christ’s faithfulness in the longterm.
#5 Suffering and Persevering with Hope
Christ calls all of us to carry our cross, and for many, the burden can be extremely difficult. Some people have endured illnesses, poverty, family losses, and much more. These people persist through it all and praise God. They are a testament to God’s sustaining power, and their testimony offers us all hope, should we face similar circumstances.
#6 Jesus set me Free
Have you ever been enslaved by addictions or something that was too difficult for you to handle without God’s help? God steps in and frees those in chains and relieves us of our burdens. If Christ has ever set you free of a sin, a burden, or a shame, your story can inspire many to seek him for help as well.
#7 God Provided
God takes care of his children. Have you ever been in need and had your loving father in heaven provide for you? When you were hungry, did he provide food? Was a bill due, and God made a way for you to pay it?
#8 God Revealed Truth
Sometimes, God will provide us with the insight that we need at just the right time. He might speak to us in a still, small voice, or he might use the words of scripture to inspire us to know the truth in an amazing way. What has God told you that has made a big difference in your life or the lives of others?
